Traditional Mexican Limeade with Chia

Instructions

  1. 1

Gather a large glass pitcher, a citrus juicer, a wooden spoon, and measuring cups. Wash the fresh limes thoroughly under cold running water and slice four thin rounds for final garnish.

  2. 2

Halve the remaining fresh limes and squeeze them with the citrus juicer into a bowl until you have about one hundred milliliters of pure juice, removing any loose seeds.

  3. 3

Place the chia seeds into a small glass with fifty milliliters of cold water, stir with a spoon, and let them sit for five minutes until they swell and form a gelatinous coating.

  4. 4

Pour the remaining cold water into the large glass pitcher, add the granulated sugar, and stir vigorously with the wooden spoon until the sugar crystals dissolve completely.

  5. 5

Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice and the swollen chia seeds into the sweetened water inside the pitcher, then stir everything together until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

  6. 6

Drop the ice cubes into four tall glasses, fill each glass with the prepared chia limeade, garnish the rims with the fresh lime slices, and serve cold immediately.
